• Scoring: Just like Part 5, every correct answer here is worth 2 points.
  • The Core Focus: This part tests a student’s understanding of text structure, cohesion, and coherence. It’s not just about understanding the topic; it’s about understanding how sentences link together logically and grammatically.

  1. The „Gist” Read: Read the base text first, ignoring the gaps, to understand the overall story and the tone of each paragraph. Then, read all the options A-G.
  2. Highlight the „Glue”: Look for reference words in both the base text (before and after the gaps) and the options A-G. These are the golden clues:
    • Pronouns: he, she, it, they, this, these, those (If an option starts with „These animals,” the sentence before the gap must mention animals).
    • Time words: previously, later, suddenly, then, at that moment.
    • Contrast/Addition linkers: however, on the other hand, furthermore, too, also.
  3. Read the „Sandwich”: Always read the sentence directly before the gap and the sentence directly after the gap. The correct option must fit logically between both of them.
  4. Cross Out: Once you are 100% sure an option fits a gap, cross it out. Do not use it again!
  5. The Final Read-Through: When all gaps are filled, read the whole text with the inserted sentences to ensure it flows perfectly.
