    C1 Advanced Key Word Transformations – test 5. The fifth test of the series concerns inversion and emphatic constructions – a typical element of the most difficult transformations at the C1 level.

    After negative and limiting expressions, we use the question order:

    • Never had I seen…, Rarely have I heard…,
    • No sooner had I… than…, Not until… did…,
    • On no account must you…, So violent was the storm that…

    How to solve?

    Before you enter your answer, check three things: whether you used the key word without changing its form, whether the answer has between 3 and 6 words, and whether the sentence after filling in is grammatically correct with what follows the gap. Both full forms and contractions are accepted (can’t / cannot). In the exam, you can get 2 points for each task – the entire answer counts here.
