C1 Advanced Use of English Part 3 Quiz No 10

C1 Advanced Word Formation – test 10. Finałowy, najtrudniejszy test serii. Tekst dotyczy eksperymentów z czterodniowym tygodniem pracy. Zadania łączą wszystkie typy przekształceń: przedrostki przeczące, rzeczowniki złożone i nietypowe przyrostki.

C1 Advanced Word Formation – test końcowy

W tym teście pojawiają się formy, które sprawiają kłopot nawet dobrze przygotowanym zdającym:

  • exhaust → exhaustion, absent → absenteeism,
  • burn → burnout (rzeczownik złożony),
  • found → unfounded, certain → uncertain.

Jak rozwiązywać?

W egzaminie Reading and Use of English Part 3 dostajesz tekst z ośmioma lukami.

To ostatni test z serii C1 Advanced Word Formation. Wynik powyżej 80% to dobry sygnał przed egzaminem Cambridge C1 Advanced.

For questions 1–8, read the text below. Use the word given in capitals to form a word that fits in the gap. There is an example at the beginning (0).

Four days a week

Trials of a four-day working week have produced (0) remarkably (REMARK) positive results. In most cases, (1) (PRODUCT) remained the same or even increased. Employees reported lower levels of stress and (2) (EXHAUST). Companies also saw a sharp fall in staff (3) (ABSENT).

Sceptics argue that the model is (4) (PRACTICE) in sectors such as healthcare. Hospitals, for example, rely on round-the-clock (5) (AVAILABLE) of staff. Others warn that squeezing five days’ work into four could lead to (6) (BURN).

Supporters dismiss such fears as (7) (FOUND). They argue that shorter hours force (8) (ORGANISE) to cut down on pointless meetings. Whether the four-day week will become the norm, however, remains uncertain.
