    A) The 30-Day Detox (Tom)
    I locked my スマートフォン in a drawer for a whole month. The first week was brutal; I experienced genuine withdrawal symptoms, constantly reaching for a phone that wasn’t there. As time passed, however, I rediscovered my old love for reading 小説, finishing four books in a month. The only real negative was feeling completely out of the loop. I missed out on several social gatherings simply because my friends organized everything through group messaging apps that I couldn’t access.

    B) The 'Dumbphone’ User (Lisa)
    I downgraded to a basic mobile phone that only makes calls and sends テキスト messages. I absolutely love that I only have to charge the battery once a week! It has also made me much more present when I’m chatting with people face-to-face. The only thing I truly struggle without is the デジタル map application. I have gotten hopelessly lost in my own city on three separate occasions because I can no longer rely on GPS to guide me.

    My rule is simple: I turn off all my デジタル devices from Friday evening until Monday morning. It has worked wonders for my insomnia; I now sleep deeply and wake up completely refreshed. At first, my manager was quite irritated by this boundary, as he was used to emailing me assignments over the weekend. However, after seeing how productive I am on Mondays, he eventually accepted my new routine.

    D) The App Restrictor (Maria)
    I kept my modern スマートフォン but deleted every single social media application and mobile game. To make the screen even less tempting, I changed the display settings to black and white. It’s amazing how unappealing a phone becomes without vibrant colors. Without the constant scrolling, I realized I had hours of extra free time every evening. I’ve started using those hours to cook highly nutritious, fresh meals from scratch instead of ordering fast food.
